HYDERABAD: A 70-year-old man died after being hit by a car during a puja at Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills on Saturday morning.

Family visits temple after nephew buys new car

Tummulapalli Ramachandra Rao, 70, from Penugonda mandal in West Godavari district, had come to Hyderabad with his wife Gangabhavani for medical tests. His nephew Sai Kumar, who lives in Miyapur, had recently bought a new car and the family went to Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills for a puja.

During the puja, the priest asked Sai Kumar to move the car slightly forward. While doing so, Sai Kumar reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to suddenly move forward.

Man dies while undergoing treatment at AIG Hospitals

Ramachandra Rao, who was standing in front of the car, was hit and suffered serious injuries. Family members immediately took him in an autorickshaw to AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli.

Doctors said he died while undergoing treatment on Saturday morning.

Jubilee Hills police registered a case and are investigating the incident.
