Hyderabad passengers miss special train after wrong timing on tickets

HYDERABAD: Passengers faced severe inconvenience on Wednesday after incorrect departure timings printed on reserved tickets caused them to miss a special train at Kachiguda railway station.
Wrong time printed on tickets
According to passengers, Western Railway’s Rajkot division operates a special Okha–Madurai service every Wednesday. The train is scheduled to arrive at Kachiguda at 9.10am and depart at 9.20am.
Twenty-nine passengers from the city had booked tickets on November 1, 2 and 3 to travel to Arunachalam (Tiruvannamalai) and Madurai. Their tickets, however, mentioned the departure time as 12.10pm, instead of the correct morning schedule.
Train leaves before passengers reach Kachiguda
Relying on the wrong timing, the passengers reached Kachiguda around noon, only to learn that the train had already arrived at 10.24am and left at 10.49am. The confusion triggered protests at the station.
Railway officials arrange alternate travel
South Central Railway officials shifted the group in a special RTC bus to Nampally railway station later in the evening. From there, 22 passengers were accommodated on the Hyderabad–Kanyakumari Express (07230) to continue their journey to Arunachalam and Madurai.
The remaining seven passengers opted for a refund.
