Stale chicken worth 610 kg seized in Musheerabad raid; shop owner detained

HYDERABAD:Â Warasiguda police arrest a man for allegedly selling rotten frozen chicken and seize about 610 kg of spoiled meat during a raid in Musheerabad on March 17, 2026.
Police say the accused stored and sold unfit chicken to local residents and small traders, risking public health.
Raid reveals expired licence and severe hygiene violations
Based on credible information, Sub-Inspector K. Ramachandra Reddy and his team conduct a surprise inspection at ‘A-1 Fresh Chicken Mart’ in Bapujinagar at about 1 pm.
During the inspection, police find around 610 kg of chicken stored in unhygienic conditions. Officials report the meat had decomposed and emitted a foul smell. The presence of rats and cats had further contaminated the stock.
Police also find that the shop’s trading licence had expired a year ago. Despite this, the accused allegedly continued business in violation of rules.
Operation conducted under supervision of senior officers
The accused, Shaik Shakeel, 40, son of Jameen Miah, a resident of Nawabpet, is taken into custody.
The operation is carried out under the directions of Secunderabad Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police K. Rakshitha Krishnamurthy, IPS, and the supervision of Chilakalguda Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Shashank Reddy. Warasiguda Inspector G. Rajender Goud, the sub-inspector and staff take part in the raid.
