Parents Of Telangana Group 1 Rank Holders Refute Bribery Allegations

HYDERABAD: Parents of several Group-1 rank-holders on Monday urged politicians not to drag their children’s futures into politics, saying false allegations that jobs were bought for ₹3 crore are ruining lives.

The Group-1 rank-holders and their parents held a press meet at the Press Club in Somajiguda and said baseless claims have caused them severe mental anguish. Several parents broke down while describing the distress.

Parents say false ₹3 crore allegations are harming children.

“Do not politicise the Group-1 exam controversy. Some politicians are making false allegations. Those who make accusations must prove them. We took loans and worked day and night to educate our children. After so many sacrifices, they now accuse us of buying jobs for ₹3 crore. We do not have that arrogance. Do not destroy our children’s future for your politics,” parents said.

They said they are willing to cooperate with any probe into claims that posts were bought. “If someone proves that we bought a post for ₹3 crore, I will sign my death warrant myself. My husband died; I work for ₹10,000 at a school. I have never even seen ₹30,000 in cash. If someone proves we paid ₹3 crore for a job, I will accept my punishment. I do not even want such a job for my son,” said the mother of the 366th rank-holder, tearful.

“We earned this rank through hard work and persistence. Some selfish people are politicising Group-1. We have never seen a ₹30 lakh or ₹3 crore bank balance. We worked day and night to educate our child. Present evidence if you have any,” said Lalita, mother of the 67th rank-holder.

“Political leaders are making false allegations. After so many sacrifices, to be accused of buying jobs for ₹3 crore is painful. Do not make us suffer mentally with these accusations,” said the father of the 46th rank-holder.

“Who sold the job? Who bought it? Show proof. Earlier my son used to get constable (SI) salary jobs; he studied for Group-1. Why make these baseless allegations now?” asked Mahesh, father of the 60th rank-holder.

High Court set aside Group-1 mains results on September 9.

The parents noted that the Telangana High Court on September 9 set aside the Group-1 Mains results while hearing 12 petitions alleging irregularities, and issued a 222-page judgment directing re-evaluation or re-examination. The court ordered reevaluation of all answer scripts by applying the Supreme Court’s moderation method, and gave the commission time to complete the exercise — directions that have put the selection process on hold.
