Paradise to Shamirpet ORR to get elevated steel bridge

Hyderabad will soon get another elevated steel bridge corridor. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has initiated steps to construct an elevated steel bridge from Paradise Junction to the Shamirpet Outer Ring Road.
Planned on the lines of the VST Ashok Nagar steel bridge, the Paradise–Shamirpet corridor will stretch 18.18 km. The project has been estimated at ₹4,263 crore and has been awarded to construction major Bakeem.
Project to be completed in two years
HMDA metropolitan commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed said the target is to complete the project within the next two years.
The corridor will pass through West Marredpally, Karkhana, Tirumalagiri, Bollaram, Alwal, Hakimpet and Thumkunta before connecting to the Shamirpet ORR junction. Once operational, commuters from Secunderabad will be able to directly access the ORR and Rajiv Rahadari.
The project will also complement the elevated corridor currently under construction from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm on the Medchal route, improving northbound connectivity from the city.
Key features of the steel bridge corridor
The 18.18 km project includes a 11.52-km elevated corridor. A six-lane tunnel will be built near the Hakimpet Air Force Academy. Entry and exit ramps will be provided at Tirumalagiri and Alwal for vehicular access.
For the project, 114.50 acres of defence land across a 9.35 km stretch and 78.39 acres of private land across 8.35 km have been acquired. Road widening will require the removal of 967 structures.
Dairy Farm corridor work progressing
Construction of the 5.40-km elevated corridor from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm on the Medchal route is progressing at a brisk pace. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months.
Once opened, the corridor will ease travel from Secunderabad to Medchal, Medak and Nizamabad via the northern route
