LB Nagar court sentences Pahadishareef POCSO accused to 20 years
HYDERABAD: A special fast-track court for rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases in Ranga Reddy district at LB Nagar on Monday sentenced Syed Mukarram, 26, to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case registered at Pahadishareef police station.
The court passed the sentence on August 31, 2026, in Crime No. 723/2023 (S.C. No. 180/2024).
Mukarram, son of Syed Aslam, an auto driver from Soheb Colony in Errakunta, Balapur mandal of Ranga Reddy district, was also fined ₹10,000. The court ordered ₹1 lakh compensation to the victim.
Girl went missing in December 2023
The case dates back to December 16, 2023, when the 16-year-old girl went missing. Her mother lodged a complaint at Pahadishareef police station on December 18.
Police began an investigation and traced the girl safely. During the investigation, the girl told police that she had become acquainted with Mukarram, an auto driver, who allegedly took her to his house after assuring her that he would marry her and sexually assaulted her repeatedly.
After completing the investigation, police filed a chargesheet against Mukarram under Sections 376(2)(n) and 366 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 5(l) and 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
The court subsequently found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment.

The investigating officers were B. Srinivas, then assistant commissioner of police, Maheshwaram, now deputy superintendent of police, Nagarkurnool, and P. Lakshmikanth Reddy, then assistant commissioner of police, Maheshwaram, now deputy superintendent of police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Hyderabad.
Additional public prosecutors P. Satyanarayana and Krishna Prasanna represented the prosecution.
Court duty officer E. Venkatesh, head constable 4044, assisted the proceedings.
The summons and warrant execution team comprised Narasimha, police constable 11601; S. Sriramulu, head constable 2887; and G. Ravinder, head constable 3747.
The liaison officers were Ramesh, SIP, Women Safety Wing, and Vivek Vardhan Reddy, head constable 2851, RGIA division.
