Hyderabad police arrest two in overseas job scam

HYDERABAD: Jubilee Hills police arrested two persons for allegedly cheating job seekers by promising overseas employment and collecting large sums.
Victims pay lakhs for fake visa promises
The accused, linked to Trivial Chapter, targeted unemployed youth by offering work visas for countries such as Greece and Romania. They collected between ₹50,000 and ₹4,00,000 from each victim.
After receiving the money, the accused issued fake offer letters and stopped responding to calls and messages, police said.
Social media used to lure job seekers
According to investigators, the accused promoted themselves as a professional overseas consultancy through platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Despite lacking a Recruitment Agent licence from the Ministry of External Affairs, they collected money by promising jobs in Greece, Italy and Serbia.
To gain trust, they issued fake “work authorisation” letters created using online templates.
Police arrested Lanka Nirupama, vice-president (South Zone), and Mamidi Arun Raj, regional manager (Telangana), on April 14.
Eight other accused, including the founder, chief executive officer and visa head, are on the run. Police said the organisation had earlier been involved in similar offences under the KPHB police station limits.
Police urge caution over overseas job offers
Police advised job seekers to verify agents through the official eMigrate portal and remain cautious about fake offer letters.
The Inspector of Police, Jubilee Hills police station, issued the statement.
