Proposed six-lane flyover alignment in Hyderabad Old City

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has prepared proposals to build two new six lane flyovers in the Old City to ease traffic towards Balapur and the airport.

Six-lane flyover at Hafeez Babanagar

The first flyover will run from Hafeez Babanagar junction to Balapur Church Road, with a 100 foot wide, six lane, bi directional grade separator. The alignment will pass over Metro Function Hall, between Omar Hotel and Shoaib Hotel.

GHMC has also decided to build a left-arm down ramp for the existing Owaisi flyover as part of the project.

Bandlaguda–Errakunta stretch

A second six lane, bi-directional flyover is planned from Bandlaguda to Errakunta Cross Road. Officials said the two flyovers will allow smoother, obstruction free movement from the Old City and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport towards Balapur and surrounding areas.

Cost, tenders and timeline

The two flyovers and the ramp are estimated to cost ₹385 crore. GHMC has obtained administrative approvals and will fund the works from the ₹7,038 crore allocated to H-City.

Tenders will be invited from February 3. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for February 12, with bids to be accepted till February 20. After completing technical and financial evaluations, work is expected to begin on March 1, officials said.
