Hyderabad agencies bust OG weed smuggling network
Hyderabad: The Eagle Force, Customs and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have busted an international OG weed smuggling network operating on the Bangkok-India route and arrested a Hyderabad-based junior artiste, Doddi Noorikala.
Officials seized 2.15 kg of OG weed from Noorikala after she arrived from Bangkok. Investigators identified Kerala native Challil Puthan Purayil Nasheed as a key mastermind in the operation.
Women lured with foreign trips, cash payments
Investigators said the syndicate targeted women by offering money and foreign trips before using them as drug couriers. During questioning, Noorikala reportedly revealed that she had travelled to Bangkok three times as part of the network’s operations.
Officials said smugglers paid couriers between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 per trip and concealed cannabis packets in their luggage before sending them to India.
Network active in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru
Authorities said the syndicate was operating in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. Noorikala’s associate, Gangabhavani, was arrested earlier in the same case, while another woman, Gowri, was detained at Chennai airport.
Investigators found that the international drug syndicate was using junior artistes and domestic workers as couriers to continue its operations. Officials are intensifying investigations into foreign handlers and interstate networks linked to the case.
The Eagle Force said searches are under way for key accused Alex and Raju Biswas, who remain absconding in the case.
