IIHP urges Etela Rajender on Hyderabad NIH

HYDERABAD:A delegation of the Indian Institute of Homeopathic Physicians (IIHP) met Malkajgiri Member of Parliament Etela Rajender and submitted a memorandum seeking establishment of a National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH) in Hyderabad.
The institute said the demand has remained pending for several years in Telangana. It urged the MP to forward the declaration prepared by the IIHP national central committee to the Union Ministry of Ayush to highlight the issue.
The delegation said while other regions have central homeopathy institutes, Telangana lacks such a facility, causing hardship to students and patients.
Students travel long distances for higher studies
The delegation said students who qualify in NEET-UG and postgraduate entrance examinations are forced to travel thousands of kilometres for higher education and research due to the absence of NIH in Telangana.
It added that patient footfall in government homeopathy hospitals in Hyderabad is increasing, reflecting public reliance on the system.
Budget allocation concerns raised by delegation
The delegation said the Union Budget for 2026-27 announced new institutions for other medical streams but did not prioritise homeopathy.
It said setting up NIH in Hyderabad would serve as a centre of excellence for south India and improve employment opportunities in the region.
Etela Rajender said he would take up the matter with the Union Ministry of Ayush and work towards securing approval for a national homeopathy institute in Telangana.
Delegation members attend meeting with MP
The delegation included M N Raju, NIH coordinator; Gorrentla Chandrasekhar, president, IIHP Telangana; Madhu Varanasi, president, IIHP Greater Hyderabad; S Deepak Babu, chief adviser; N Rambabu, finance secretary; and Harikrishna Chandanagiri, general secretary, IIHP Telangana.
