Hyderabad to be developed as national film hub, says Bhatti Vikramarka

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Tuesday said the Telangana government was committed to developing Hyderabad as India’s film capital, creating opportunities for growth, employment for youth and access to global markets.
Speaking at the Gaddar Film Awards jury meeting held at the Secretariat, he said the revival of the awards under Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy was aimed at encouraging meaningful cinema with social relevance. The awards draw inspiration from Gaddar, who used art and culture to engage with social issues.
Bhatti Vikramarka said transparency and talent would be the guiding principles in the selection process. He added that the government would extend full autonomy and institutional support to the Telangana State Film Development Corporation (FDC) and the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department in conducting the awards.
As per the schedule announced at the meeting, film screenings will begin on March 6, while the awards ceremony will be held on March 19, coinciding with Ugadi.
FDC chairman Dil Raju, I&PR commissioner C H Priyanka, FDC executive director Kishore Babu and jury members Tanikella Bharani, K S Rama Rao, Roja Ramani and Ashok Kumar, among others, were present.
