Hyderabad Police arrest interstate criminal Sheikh Irfan

HYDERABAD: Narsingi police arrested alleged interstate criminal Sheikh Irfan Ahmed alias Matter Irfan, who is wanted in multiple robbery and theft cases, and remanded him in judicial custody.

According to police, Irfan, a resident of Dargah Khaleej Khan, along with his associates, allegedly kidnapped two men near the Telangana Police Academy rotary on the night of July 6. The victims were taken on motorcycles to a secluded location, where they were threatened with knives. The accused allegedly robbed them of ₹1,050, two power banks and forced them to transfer another ₹10,000 through an online transaction.

Police seize knife, mobile phone and cash

Acting on credible information, the Narsingi Crime Police were on patrol near the Telangana Police Academy when they identified and apprehended Irfan, who was walking in the area. Police seized a knife, a mobile phone and ₹300 in cash from his possession.

Police said the accused has 11 criminal cases registered against him in Telangana and Karnataka.

Thirteen non-bailable warrants pending

Investigators said Irfan allegedly operated with associates Chetan, Afghan Hussain, Sohel and Mohammed Sameer, targeting people travelling alone.

Police said 13 non-bailable warrants issued by various courts are pending against the accused.
