Accused arrested by Narayanaguda police near Secunderabad railway station in burglary case

HYDERABAD: Police in Narayanaguda under the Khairatabad zone arrested an interstate house burglary accused involved in multiple thefts.

The accused, identified as Hafeezul Sheikh, 37, a saree designer from South 24 Parganas in Kolkata, allegedly committed two daytime burglaries on March 30, 2026, within Narayanaguda police station limits.

According to police, complaints were filed by Mahveen Fatima of Narayanaguda Street No. 15 and Yogendra Mukhia of Himayatnagar Street No. 10. The accused broke open locked houses during the day and stole gold ornaments and cash worth about ₹2,00,000.

Cases were registered under Crime Nos. 97 and 99 of 2026 under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an inquiry was launched.

Accused linked to six burglary cases across Telangana

Police said the accused has a history of property offences in Delhi, Kolkata and Telangana and had previously served jail terms. He was also linked to cases registered in Narayanaguda, Kukatpally (Cyberabad) and Sanath Nagar police stations.

Investigators said he identified locked houses during daytime, broke open locks and stole valuables.

Acting on CCTV footage and technical evidence, police teams led by SHO M. Saideshwar detained the accused near Secunderabad Railway Station at 5.30 pm on April 6, 2026. He had arrived in the city to commit another offence, police said.

During questioning, the accused confessed to six house burglary cases across the three police station limits.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Khairatabad zone DCP K. Shilpavalli and Sultan Bazar division ACP M. Mattiah. The DCP commended the police team and announced rewards.
