Hyderabad Nampally furniture shop fire traps six

HYDERABAD: A major fire broke out at Bachha Crystal Furniture in Hyderabad’s Nampally on Saturday, trapping six people, including two children, inside a four-storey building.
Six trapped as smoke billows from ground floor
According to preliminary information, thick smoke emanating from the ground floor prevented those inside from escaping, forcing them to remain on the upper floors. The condition of the trapped occupants turned critical due to breathing difficulties.
Fire engines deployed; rescue under way
Fire and emergency services rushed four fire engines to the spot after receiving alerts from local residents. Rescue teams are using cranes to evacuate those stranded on the upper floors, officials said.
Short circuit suspected; safety lapses flagged
Officials suspect a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over fire safety compliance in commercial complexes located amid dense residential neighbourhoods, especially in narrow and congested areas such as Nampally, where access for fire engines is challenging.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sajjanar reached the scene shortly after the incident and reviewed the situation.
