Hyderabad police arrest Miyapur serial burglary accused

HYDERABAD: Miyapur police arrested a man accused of targeting locked houses and carrying out a series of burglaries.
Kukatpally Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Rithiraj said the accused is involved in about 45 cases across the city. She disclosed details at a press conference held at Miyapur police station on Friday.
Accused turns to crime for additional income
Vallepu Venkatesh, a resident of FCI Colony in Miyapur, works as a sand trader. Police said he took to theft a few years ago for additional income. He allegedly committed burglaries at 45 locations, was jailed, and later released on bail.
Recent thefts trigger surveillance
In the past month, three house break-ins were reported in Miyapur police station limits. Similar incidents were reported in Gachibowli, where unidentified persons broke open house locks in daylight and committed theft.
Following these incidents, Miyapur crime police kept surveillance on Venkatesh, who already had multiple cases against him.
Arrest during attempted burglary
On Friday, police detained him while he was attempting a burglary at a locked house in Mayurinagar. During questioning, the full extent of the theft cases came to light.
