Hyderabad to get common Metro-RTC travel card soon

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad residents may soon be able to use a single card for travel on both city buses and Metro trains, with the proposed common mobility pass expected to be introduced shortly.
Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed officials to expedite work on the Metro-Road Transport Corporation (RTC) common mobility system. The move is expected to address a long-standing demand from employees and students for a single travel card covering both modes of public transport.
Common card aims to ease daily commuting for workers
Commuters have been seeking an integrated ticketing system for nearly six years, saying it would save time during peak hours by allowing them to switch between buses and Metro trains using one card.
Officials are working on the modalities for the common mobility system, including daily and monthly passes.
Daily and monthly passes under consideration for commuters
The initiative seeks to bring Metro and RTC services under a common ticketing arrangement, allowing passengers to travel across the city without having to use separate cards or tickets.
Jaju has directed officials to speed up the process so that the new system can be implemented soon.
