Hyderabad Metro increases services amid RTC strike

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro has increased services following the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) Joint Action Committee strike, which has disrupted bus operations across the state.
With buses off the roads, commuters have shifted to the metro in large numbers, leading to heavy passenger rush at several stations. Footfall increased sharply during morning and evening peak hours, especially at interchange points and terminal stations.
On the Miyapur–LB Nagar corridor, metro services are now operating every four minutes. On the Nagole–Raidurg route, trains are running at intervals of three minutes and 40 seconds to manage the surge in demand.
Metro authorities said additional trains were deployed and frequency adjusted to avoid overcrowding on platforms and inside coaches. Security and operational staff were also positioned at key stations to regulate passenger movement and ensure smooth boarding.
Officials said the revised schedule would continue as long as the RTC strike impacts public transport services in the city.
