HYDERABAD: A passenger travelling on a Hyderabad Metro Rail service from Nagole to Raidurg on Monday was fined and booked after allegedly placing his foot on a metro window and refusing to change his behaviour despite objections from fellow passengers.

According to Hyderabad Metro Rail officials, several passengers objected to the man’s conduct. However, he reportedly argued that he would continue sitting in the same manner. A fellow commuter then lodged a complaint with metro authorities.

Complaint leads to police action at Raidurg station

Police detained the passenger at Raidurg Metro Station. A complaint was subsequently filed at the Raidurg police station, leading to the registration of a case against him.

The passenger was identified as Chaitanya. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) General Manager (Security) Srinath Reddy told Eenadu that a fine of ₹250 was imposed on him under provisions of the Metro Rail Act for his conduct.

Video goes viral on social media

A video showing the passenger sitting with his foot resting on the metro window circulated widely on social media. The incident drew criticism from numerous commuters, who described the behaviour as lacking civic sense.

Several social media users also called for stricter action against passengers who violate public transport norms.
