HYDERABAD: Police in Mehdipatnam arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a murder case registered as Crime No. 96/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The accused, identified as Mofil, a native of Araria district in Bihar, worked as a chaat master at a juice centre in Tolichowki. The victim, Gulrez Alam, also from Bihar, worked as a helper at the same outlet.

Police said an argument broke out between the two over a minor issue. During the altercation, Mofil allegedly attacked Alam multiple times on the head with a steel ladle.

Victim collapses after head injuries, dies in hospital

Alam sustained severe head injuries and collapsed after experiencing dizziness. The shop owner and co-workers shifted him to ABS Neuro and Cardiac Hospital, where he died during treatment.

Police arrested the accused and will produce him before a court on April 10, 2026.

DCP commends police team for swift action

Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Chandra Mohan, Golconda Zone, commended the Mehdipatnam police station team for solving the case. Officials involved in the investigation included Inspector S. Mallesh, Detective Inspector N. Rambabu, Sub-Inspector N. Preethi Reddy, Mohan Karthik, and constables.

The investigation and arrest were carried out under the supervision of DCP G. Chandra Mohan, Additional DCP Krishna Goud, and Assistant Commissioner of Police B. Kishan Kumar.
