Fire damages plastic godown in Hyderabad’s Meerpet, no casualties
HYDERABAD: A major fire broke out at a plastic godown in Nandanavanam under the Meerpet police station limits on Tuesday night, causing extensive property damage. No casualties were reported.
The blaze spread rapidly after it erupted, triggering panic among residents in the area. Locals alerted the police and the fire department, following which firefighters rushed to the spot.
Three fire engines were pressed into service to contain the blaze. Fire personnel brought the fire under control after efforts to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
Cause of fire under investigation
Large quantities of plastic materials stored in the godown were destroyed in the fire, resulting in substantial property loss. Officials have not yet assessed the extent of the damage.
Police said the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
