Hyderabad police arrest Adil Khan in double murder

HYDERABAD: Police arrested Adil Khan in connection with a double murder under the Meerchowk police station limits on April 21, 2026.
The arrest was made at 2 pm under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police G. Shyam Sundar, following instructions from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad, in-charge Charminar zone) B. Rajesh and Additional DCP M.A. Majeed. A case has been registered under Crime No. 113/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Siblings dispute leads to fatal stabbing of couple
According to police, the incident occurred around 6 pm on April 20, 2026, at Sultanpura. Akeel Khan, 30, a driver, and his wife Ajmeera Begum, 26, were at their residence when Akeel’s brother, Adil Khan, attacked them with a knife.
Both victims sustained severe injuries to the neck and chest and died on the spot. The accused fled immediately after the attack.
The couple resided in Kali Khabar, Chaderghat, under Meerchowk limits.
Arrest made within 24 hours of incident
Police apprehended the accused on April 21 during the investigation. Officers seized a mobile phone and blood-stained clothes from him. The knife used in the offence was recovered from the crime scene.
Adil Khan, 35, works in fabrication and resides near Charminar mosque in Pahadishareef, Rangareddy district.
Motive linked to family and financial disputes
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused held a grudge against the couple due to personal issues. These included jealousy over the couple having children while he remained childless, disputes over child adoption, and financial disagreements related to hand loans.
Senior officials commended the Meerchowk police team, including Station House Officer M. Kondal Rao, Detective Inspector N. Saidayya, Sub-Inspector Santosh Kumar, Woman Sub-Inspector C.H. Anitha, and constables Arun Kumar, R. Bhaskar and Shiva Goud, for solving the case within 24 hours.
