Crypto Currency Trading Scam

HYDERABAD: A 42-year-old man from R.K. Puram lost ₹29.46 lakh after being duped by a woman he met through a friendship app who promised profits from forex and cryptocurrency trading.

Police said the complainant, Vangara Kartik, son of Vangara Sarvesh, residing at R.K. Puram, came into contact with a woman identifying herself as Priti Agarwal on a mobile app called Randochat on September 2, 2025. The woman later began communicating with him via Telegram, using the handle @Parriiiiii29.

Fraud through fake trading website

According to the complaint, Agarwal claimed to earn high returns through forex and cryptocurrency investments and persuaded Kartik to join a trading platform, https://gomktsyre.cc. Trusting her claims, he created an account (username: vangkartik@gmail.com, password: Kartik@123) and began investing substantial sums that were converted into cryptocurrency.

Over time, the account dashboard displayed significant profits. However, when Kartik’s wallet balance touched $1,00,000 (about ₹83 lakh), he was denied withdrawal and asked to pay a 30% “profit tax” amounting to $16,800 (₹13.44 lakh). When he refused, the woman allegedly began threatening him and demanding more money.

Realisation and complaint

Realising he had been cheated, Kartik approached the Chaitanyapuri police station, and lodged a complaint stating that he had lost a total of ₹29,46,960 to the fraudsters. Police have taken up investigation into the case.
