Hyderabad man loses Rs. 1.1L after fake call about parcel delivery

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old businessman from Hyderabad recently fell victim to a fraudulent scheme and lost ₹1,15,800. The victim received a call two days ago from a number (08415806808), claiming that a parcel had arrived at Delhi Airport. Expecting a parcel from the US, the victim assumed the call was genuine.
According to the Hyderabad cybercrime police, the caller informed the victim that he needed to pay Rs. 25,000 as courier charges to have the parcel delivered to Hyderabad. Trusting the caller, the victim transferred ₹25,000 from his HDFC Bank account.
Later, the fraudster called again from another number (9220231909), claiming the parcel contained $50,000 in cash, which was illegal. The victim was told he would need a certificate to avoid legal issues. Fearing legal consequences, the victim transferred ₹90,800 in two separate payments.
Afterward, when the victim tried to contact the fraudster, the numbers became unreachable. Realizing he had been scammed, the victim filed a complaint with the police.
