Man cheated of ₹2.57 lakh in rating and reviews task fraud in Rajendranagar

Victim was asked to give five-star ratings for hotels and restaurants
HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old resident of Manchirevula lost ₹2.57 lakh after falling prey to an online task fraud, police said on September 15, 2025.
According to the complaint filed by Varikuppala Krishna, he was contacted by fraudsters who initially asked him to give five-star ratings for hotels and restaurants. After completing these tasks, he was assigned what were called “welfare tasks”.
Money demanded for fake tasks
Krishna said he was first asked to pay a registration fee of ₹2,000. He later transferred ₹5,000 to complete one task, followed by another ₹5,000 for a second task. Each time, the fraudsters promised him returns on completing the assignments.
However, the tasks were never completed, and each time he was persuaded to send more money. In total, he transferred ₹2,57,000 before realising he had been cheated.
Case registered
Police have registered a case on his complaint and are investigating. Officials have urged people to remain cautious about online offers that require advance payments for tasks or rewards.
