Hyderabad man kills wife by setting her on fire
Hyderabad: In another brutal murder in the city, a man allegedly set his wife on fire in front of their children after dousing her with petrol, before fleeing the scene.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Nallakunta police station. The couple, Triveni and Venkatesh, natives of Nalgonda district, were living in Hyderabad after a love marriage and have two children.
According to the police, Venkatesh had been harassing Triveni, suspecting her character. Distressed by the harassment, she had recently gone to her parental home.
Police said Venkatesh later assured her that he would change and brought her back to Hyderabad. However, within days, he allegedly poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.
When their daughter tried to intervene, Venkatesh allegedly pushed her into the flames as well. Hearing the screams, locals rushed to the house and shifted both victims to a hospital.
Triveni was declared dead on arrival, while the daughter escaped with minor burn injuries.
Police registered a case and took Venkatesh into custody for questioning.
