Hyderabad man held for using AI images in marriage fraud
HYDERABAD: A 29-year-old man was arrested by Nagole police on Thursday for allegedly deceiving a woman by posing as an Indian Army officer using AI-generated photographs on social media.
AI images used to build fake identity
According to Nagole Inspector Mohammed Maqbool Jani, the accused, Mukera Govardhan of Shamirpet, befriended a woman from Anand Nagar in Nagole through social media. He allegedly sent AI-generated photographs and claimed to be an officer in the Indian Army to gain her trust.
He later promised to marry her and persuaded her to enter into a live-in relationship.
Police uncover previous marriage and earlier cheating case
Police said Govardhan later sought a large sum of money from the woman, claiming it was needed for his father’s medical treatment. When she questioned him about the marriage, he allegedly began threatening her, prompting her to file a complaint with Nagole police.
During the inquiry, police found that the accused was already married. They also discovered that he had allegedly cheated another woman from Alwal on the pretext of marriage last year, was jailed in that case, and was later released on bail.
