Hyderabad man gets challan for stolen vehicle; image shows suspected rider

HYDERABAD: A Hyderabad resident, Faisal Rahman, said he received a traffic challan for a vehicle that was reported stolen three months earlier, sparking reactions on social media.
Rahman stated that he had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Habeeb Nagar police station after the vehicle was stolen. He added that the challan issued for the same vehicle included an image that allegedly showed the person riding it.
“My vehicle was stolen 3 months ago, and an FIR has already been registered at Habeeb Nagar Police Station. Today, I received a traffic challan for the same vehicle, and the image clearly shows the thief’s face. I kindly request you to look into this,” Rahman wrote on X.

Online reactions range from sarcasm to criticism
The post drew multiple reactions, with users questioning enforcement and investigation. One user wrote, “Unbelievable. This happening in Hyderabad.” Another commented, “Police cracked the case.” A third posted, “Bahot zabardast system hai.”
Some users suggested alternative possibilities. One comment read, “Irony is that he might not be the actual thief and bought it on sale from some local resale garage.” Another wrote, “It plainly proves that traffic cameras are working just correctly.”
Others criticised authorities. “Wtf is the police department doing,” one user posted. Another alleged, “Only CM can save you.”
Political claims circulate without official confirmation
A few comments introduced political allegations without evidence. One post claimed the “thief belongs to political ruling party member,” while another suggested only the chief minister could intervene. These claims were not backed by official confirmation.
Several users also debated whether surveillance footage or traffic cameras were used and whether identification based on the image was accurate. Many reactions were sarcastic or brief, indicating the post had spread widely.
There was no immediate response from police regarding the challan, the viral image, or the claims circulating online at the time of reporting
