Hyderabad Man Hacked to Death Near Rameshwaram Cafe in Madhapur

Rameshwaram Cafe Murder

HYDERABAD: A cook working at a Madhapur hotel was hacked to death on Wednesday, July 15, outside Rameshwaram Cafe in Ayyappa Society, in an attack police say stemmed from a months-long harassment complaint. The victim, Chinnapalli Bhaskar, 30, hailed from Upparapalli village in Warangal district and was employed at Sri Cinema Hotel in Madhapur.

Police said two men, Raju and his brother-in-law Kumaraswamy, arrived from Warangal and attacked Bhaskar with sticks and knives outside the cafe. Bhaskar died at the scene from his injuries before he could be taken for treatment. Both attackers reportedly surrendered at Madhapur police station shortly after the incident, rather than fleeing.

Investigators said the roots of the case trace back several months, to allegations that Bhaskar had been stalking and harassing two sisters from Warangal under the guise of a romantic relationship. The sisters had raised the matter formally, filing a complaint at the Warangal Women’s Police Station. Officers had counselled both sides at the time, a routine step in such disputes, but police said Bhaskar did not change his conduct afterward.

The situation is said to have escalated sharply after a phone call between Bhaskar and Raju, the sisters’ father. Bhaskar allegedly challenged Raju to come to Hyderabad if he had the courage to confront him. Police said the remark angered Raju, who then travelled to the city with Kumaraswamy, leading to the confrontation outside the cafe that turned fatal.

Officers reached the spot after being alerted through the Dial-100 emergency helpline and brought the situation under control. Bhaskar’s body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was carried out to confirm the cause of death.

Madhapur police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the killing. Officials said the probe will determine whether the alleged harassment was the sole trigger for the attack or whether other factors played a role. Raju and Kumaraswamy remain in police custody, and further details are expected to surface as the investigation progresses and statements are recorded.
