Rowdy-sheeter hacked to death in Mailardevpally
HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old rowdy-sheeter was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified persons in Mailardevpally in the early hours of Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Mohammed Khazi Sohel, a resident of Ali Nagar. Police said he had a rowdy sheet opened against him at Mailardevpally police station.
According to police, the attack took place at around 2.40am on Wednesday. Sohel was attacked with a knife on the road while travelling towards Durganagar from the Hayat Hotel near Pallecheruvu, reports said.
Sohel sustained multiple stab injuries and died at the spot, police said. A Dial-100 call was received at around 6am about an injured man, following which a patrol team reached the location.
Mailardevpally police reached the scene and began collecting evidence. The body was shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the attackers. A murder case has been registered at Mailardevpally police station.
Investigators are also checking Sohel’s previous cases and details of people with whom he had disputes. Police are probing whether the killing was linked to old rivalry or another dispute.
