HYDERABAD: A 34-year-old man allegedly cheated a 20-year-old woman and took around 1 kg of gold from her after convincing her he had a brain tumour and financial problems. The incident came to light in the Chaitanyapuri police station limits in Hyderabad.

The accused, Sagar, was married and had a child. Despite knowing this, the woman, whose father owns a tiles shop in the city, developed a relationship with him. Sagar had been working as a manager at the shop for four years and had gained the family’s trust.

After learning that the woman was in love with him, Sagar told her that he was suffering from a brain tumour and facing financial distress. He repeatedly said he was struggling to meet expenses.

Moved by his claims, the woman decided to help him. She allegedly stole gold ornaments weighing about 1 kg from her house locker and handed them over to him.
