Smart e-Toilets revolution: Centre lauds Hyderabad’s unique Loo-cafes

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s unique Loo-cafes have come in praise from the Centre for adding its own unique twist to the smart toilet revolution. The luxurious public toilets look like a small cafe from outside due to the exterior and its colorful awning extended from the roof.
Lauding the idea behind the making of Loo-cafes, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) said these innovative facilities combine a public toilet and a café, providing not only a place for people to freshen up but also a relaxing environment to grab a bite.
In its statement titled “Smart e-Toilets: Revolutionizing Urban Sanitation Across India”, the Ministry stated that these Loo-cafes not only wear an aesthetic look but also serve as luxurious toilets.
“Loocafes invite people to experience public sanitation in a completely new way, combining comfort with utility,” the statement added.
In 2018, a private company Ixora FM introduced the Loo-cafe concept in Hyderabad. The company’s aim is to change people’s perception pertaining to the poorly maintained washrooms. These Loo-cafes are equipped with Loo plus cafe plus ATM plus Wi-Fi plus FM Radio plus mobile charging station. Hyderabad’s Loo-cafe model was also displayed for the visitors at the Swachh Bharat Exhibits at the 2019 Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar.
