Hyderabad citizens demand action on alleged Lingappa Kunta encroachment

Hyderabad: Citizens in Serilingampalle Zone have raised concerns about illegal construction occurring on the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Lingappa Kunta. They are calling on A.V. Ranganath, Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA), to investigate the matter and take prompt action, as the construction is still in its initial stages.
The issue was highlighted on social media by user Santhosh (@skv8801), who tagged HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath, the Commissioner of GHMC, the GHMC official platform, and the zonal commissioner of Serilingampalle Zone. In a tweet, Santhosh wrote, “It is to bring to your kind attention that an alleged construction is happening on the FTL of Lingappa Kunta located at Serilingampalle Zone. Please take action, as construction is in the initial stage.”

Santhosh further said ongoing water logging issues due to encroachments at Lingappa Kunta and Gopi Cheruvu. He shared a video posted by Manish Kumar showing water logging under the Lingampally railway bridge.
Another concerned user, Krishna Chaitanya, tagged the Telangana Chief Minister, stating, “This has been happening for over 10 years. Despite changes in government, the problem persists. Please address this issue immediately.”
Sanghamitra Malik (@Ilovehyderabad) criticised the pattern of addressing such issues only during heavy rains and severe water logging. The user commented, “Only when there are heavy rains and severe water logging do the public and administration discuss the problem. Once the monsoon season ends, all is forgotten, and the problem recurs the following year.”
When the path for the rain water to flow is completely blocked, only this can be the result.
Nature is repeatedly teaching us lessons but neither the public nor the administration are taking the hints as they seem to be waiting for destruction….so destruction it will be!— Sanghamitra Malik (@Ilovehyderabad) September 2, 2024
Malik further warned, “When the path for rainwater to flow is completely blocked, only disaster can result. Nature repeatedly teaches us lessons, but neither the public nor the administration seems to take note, waiting instead for destruction.”
Ashwini R expressed concern over damaged and encroached lake connections, stating, “When the lake-to-lake flow connections are disrupted, we can only expect disaster.”
Citizens are urging the HYDRAA Commissioner to take necessary action on this matter. As of now, the HYDRAA Commissioner has not yet commented on the situation.
