Hyderabad emerges as leading GCC hub, attracts 40 new centres in 2025

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad has emerged as a leading Global Capability Centres (GCCs) hub, hosting around 20 per cent of India’s GCCs and attracting 40 new centres in 2025 till October — the highest in the country, according to the Telangana Socio Economic Outlook-2026.
The report said GCCs are offshore units that deliver IT, research and development, customer support, and business operations for global companies. These centres have become key growth drivers due to a strong talent pool, high-quality infrastructure, and business-friendly policies.
Major global firms expanding or investing in Hyderabad include Eli Lilly, Amgen, Uber, Cognizant, and Micron Technology.
India’s GCC sector shows strong growth trajectory
India’s GCC ecosystem comprises over 1,700 centres employing about 1.9 million people, with revenue of $64.6 billion in 2024. The sector is projected to grow to 2,400 GCCs with revenue reaching $105 billion by 2030.
The Telangana government’s GCC policy for 2025–30 aims to generate 15 million sq ft of Grade-A office space by 2030. The strategy also includes expansion to tier-2 cities such as Warangal, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad.
Focus on AI, life sciences, sustainable technology sectors
The policy focuses on emerging sectors including artificial intelligence, life sciences, and sustainable technology. The state aims to position Telangana as a global innovation hub and “Asia’s Innovation Capital”.
