LB Nagar police arrest Amazon employee in hammer attack
HYDERABAD: A youth who allegedly posed as an air-conditioner mechanic attacked a woman with a hammer and robbed her at Rock Hills Colony in LB Nagar police station limits.
Police said the accused, identified as Abrar Ahmed, entered the house after convincing the woman that he had come to repair the AC. He confirmed that she was alone before carrying out the attack.
Police trace suspect through CCTV footage, arrest within hours
The accused allegedly assaulted the woman, snatched a 2.5-tola gold chain from her neck and fled. Local residents alerted police by dialling 100.
Police shifted the injured woman to Kamineni Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Based on CCTV footage, police identified the suspect and launched a search.
They arrested him within two hours and produced him before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
Police said the accused claimed to be working with Amazon. LB Nagar police are continuing the investigation.
During the Ramzan festival period, the youth allegedly committed the theft and assault and was subsequently arrested.
