HYDERABAD: Pedestrians at the busy Kukatpally JNTU junction will soon get relief as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to construct a skywalk in the area.
Skywalks at Uppal and Mehdipatnam draw good response
Currently, the skywalk at Uppal Ring Road is proving useful to pedestrians, offering not only safe passage but also seating, coffee kiosks and food courts. Authorities said this has increased footfall during evenings. A similar facility is nearing completion at Mehdipatnam.
Kukatpally project to link JNTU, metro and Lulu Mall
Officials said the Kukatpally project will connect JNTU to the metro station and extend up to Lulu Mall, covering about 600 metres. They are studying whether to execute it directly or under the public-private partnership model. The cost estimates will be finalised in a detailed project report (DPR), expected soon. Authorities added that plans are also underway to construct a large skyway near Secunderabad railway station.
