Kintsugi Workshop in Hyderabad Turns Broken Pieces Into Golden Art

Hyderabad: In a quiet studio space this weekend, the sound of deliberate cracking will not signal destruction, but the beginning of a transformative journey. At this one-of-a-kind workshop, participants will break more than just cups, they will symbolically smash their worries and old habits, then gently mend the pieces with shimmering gold resin.

The Kintsugi workshop, one of 42 creative experiences offered weekly. Guided by facilitators Pragati, Abhishek, and Syed from Connect Corner, the session explores the centuries-old Japanese art of Kintsugi, where participants turn broken pieces into golden masterpieces. The Kintsugi workshop is immersive and hands-on, teaching the philosophy and techniques behind this craft. The experience blends artistry, mindfulness, and storytelling. No prior artistic experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to explore imperfection.

“The participant first identifies a source of stress or a problem, which could be anything from work pressure to a personal habit,” explains Pragati. “They then project that onto a simple cup. The act of carefully breaking it is a physical release, a conscious breaking of that negative weight.”

Beauty of broken things

Above all, the real magic lies in the repair. Participants gather the fragments and begin the meticulous process of rejoining them. Instead of hiding the cracks, they are emphasized and celebrated. The seams are painted gold, transforming the cup into a new object where the lines of breakage become its most beautiful features.

“This is the core philosophy of Kintsugi,” says Pragati. “It teaches us that breakage and repair are part of an object’s and our own history. The object is not just fixed, it is reborn, unique, and often more valuable than before.”

The workshop functions as a “stress buster” and a hands-on lesson in resilience. It guides participants through the cycle of fracture and healing, making the concept of “bouncing back” tangibly beautiful.Kintsugi Workshop 2

The Kintsugi session is just one of more than 40 weekend workshops at Connect Corner, each offering Hyderabad’s residents a creative and therapeutic escape. By blending ancient artistry with modern self-care, this workshop becomes more than a craft, it is a fresh lens on healing, revealed in every golden seam.
