Jubilee Hills house fined ₹5,000 for drinking water misuse

HYDERABAD: Authorities have begun action against those misusing drinking water supplied by the water board for non-essential purposes.
Officials said complaints received through WhatsApp and social media indicated that potable water was being used to wash floors, cellars and open areas in residential and commercial premises.
Complaint leads to inspection and penalty
Acting on a complaint received via WhatsApp on Tuesday, officials inspected a house in Jubilee Hills registered under Dasari Tanuja Reddy (CAN No. 061108578). They found that drinking water was being used to wash the floor.
The water board imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for violating regulations. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against similar violations.
Public urged to report misuse cases promptly
The board said it is taking stringent action against those violating norms, as complaints about water wastage continue to be received.
General managers are conducting inspections in their jurisdictions during water supply hours with field staff. Notices are being issued and fines imposed wherever misuse is detected.
