Parents approach Telangana Eagle over son’s drug addiction

HYDERABAD: Unable to bear harassment and assaults by their son addicted to narcotics, parents approached police seeking help in counselling him.
The Telangana Eagle team took up the complaint and not only counselled the youth but also detained two persons who allegedly supplied drugs to him and seven others who bought and consumed them. The incident occurred under Jagadgirigutta police station limits. Telangana Eagle disclosed details on Tuesday.
Youth assaults mother after rehab stint
The Jagadgirigutta couple had admitted their son to a rehabilitation centre a few months ago after learning that he was consuming drugs. After returning home, he resumed taking ganja. When his parents tried to stop him, he allegedly assaulted his mother.
Distressed, the parents informed Telangana Eagle through the toll-free number 1908.
Suppliers traced through surveillance operation
Police counselled the youth and simultaneously launched an operation to trace the source of supply. They kept discreet surveillance and found that three friends were consuming ganja together. All three were detained.
In the presence of their parents, the youths were counselled. Police chose not to register cases and instead took steps to admit them to a rehabilitation centre for reform.
Further inquiry revealed that Mohammed Sameer of Moosapet was the key supplier. Sameer allegedly supplied ganja to Shaik Ahmed of Jagadgirigutta and Shaik Avezuddin of Gajularamaram. Others purchased the narcotic from them for consumption.
