Three Hyderabad IT employees arrested in MDMA racket after STF raid in Hayathnagar

HYDERABAD: Three information technology employees were arrested in connection with an alleged MDMA drug racket after the Excise Special Task Force (STF) seized 7.44 grams of the banned substance during a raid in Hayathnagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Officials said one of the accused, a software employee, had allegedly quit his job and started procuring MDMA from Bengaluru for distribution in Hyderabad. Another accused allegedly invested money in the operation in return for a share of the profits.
A third IT employee was caught while allegedly attempting to purchase the drugs, officials said.
Drugs allegedly sold at four times purchase price
According to Excise officials, the accused procured MDMA in Bengaluru for around ₹2,000 per gram and sold it in Hyderabad for ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 per gram.
The Excise STF conducted the raid in Hayathnagar and seized 7.44 grams of MDMA from the accused.
Accused handed over to Hayathnagar Excise Police
The trio was arrested and later handed over to Hayathnagar Excise Police for further investigation.
Officials are probing the supply network and possible links to interstate drug trafficking.
