Hyderabad IT corridor chokes as accidents trigger traffic chaos

HYDERABAD: Traffic congestion continued unabated in the IT corridor on December 16, with multiple stretches witnessing severe snarls during the evening peak hours.
IT corridor roads gridlocked during evening rush
Heavy traffic was reported at Gachibowli Anjaiah Nagar, Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, Nanakramguda and Shilpa Layout, leaving vehicles stranded for long durations. In the Raidurgam traffic police station limits, a sudden surge in vehicular movement from Telecom Nagar towards NCB Junction led to a major traffic jam in the evening.
Kothaguda flyover, Cyber Towers stretch hit
Traffic also came to a standstill on the Kothaguda Flyover towards Cyber Towers. Vehicles piled up near the Gachibowli Nawab Restaurant area, adding to commuter woes. With congestion reported across multiple routes simultaneously, motorists were forced to wait on roads for hours. Traffic police personnel from concerned stations visited the affected areas and regulated traffic on the ground.
Accidents add to congestion on PV Expressway
On the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, a car accident occurred near pillar number 112 around midnight on Monday, in which four cars collided with each other. Several people suffered minor injuries.
In another incident, a speeding car lost control and rammed into a road divider electric pole near pillar number 270 on the expressway around 9 am on Tuesday. The accident resulted in a traffic jam on the stretch. Rajendranagar traffic police promptly removed the damaged vehicle and restored the traffic flow.
