HYDERABAD: Police have booked a hotel owner for allegedly selling stale biryani through online orders in Hyderabad.

Food kept with rodents, delivered to customers

The accused, Irfan, reportedly prepared biryani at his hotel in Jeedimetla and stored about 80 packets for three days in a refrigerator.

He allegedly sold the food on Zomato under the name “Lucky Biryani and Shawarma” from an apartment cellar in Banjara Hills.

Customers were delivered spoiled biryani that had been stored in unhygienic conditions, including alongside rodents, police said.

Police register case, begin investigation

The hotel staff reportedly reheated the stored biryani in an oven before delivery.

A customer who ordered through Zomato received spoiled food, prompting the complaint.

Banjara Hills police have registered a case against Irfan and are investigating.
