HISFF balloon to be hoisted at Tourism Plaza today
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) organising committee will hoist the festival balloon at Tourism Plaza at 16.30 IST on December 11, 2025, in the presence of Jayesh Ranjan, special chief secretary, Priyanka, managing director, Telangana Film Development Corporation, and Kranthi, managing director, Telangana Tourism Development Corporation.
First edition draws 704 short-film entries
The committee said the inaugural edition of HISFF received 704 entries, describing it as a record for a first-time festival. Organisers noted that several established festivals have not crossed such numbers even after operating for over a decade.
Screenings scheduled from December 19–21
Festival screenings will be held at Prasads IMAX screens 4 and 5 from December 19 to 21, 2025. The committee said the response shows the “vibrant and forward-looking inclination” of young filmmakers choosing short films as their medium of expression.
Festival aims to build sustainable platform
HISFF is designed as a sustainable forum for young talent to collaborate with industry veterans and experts in film technique and technology.
The committee added that the festival is being organised with active collaboration and support from the Government of Telangana, the Telangana Film Development Corporation, and the Telangana Department of Youth, Culture and Tourism.
