Hyderabad man cheats 15 families in interior scam

HYDERABAD: A man has been booked for allegedly cheating families in the name of interior design services in Hyderabad.
Police said the accused collected advance payments by promising to deliver high-end interiors at low cost but failed to complete the work.
Advance taken, work left incomplete
Alfred Kings, a resident of Yapral, approached Shanmugam Tiruchinapalli of Moti Nagar for interior work at his house. The two agreed on ₹8 lakh for the project.
Shanmugam took ₹3.6 lakh as advance. He removed the existing interiors but did not carry out further work. He later stopped responding to calls, leaving the family in difficulty.
Case registered after complaint
Following a complaint by Alfred, Jawahar Nagar police station registered a case against the accused.
During inquiry, police found that Shanmugam allegedly cheated around 15 families across Gachibowli, Medchal, Pocharam, Alwal and Gopalapuram. He is accused of collecting over ₹47 lakh in advance payments without completing the promised work.
