Illegal motors seized from water pipelines in Uppal zone

HYDERABAD: Vigilance officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seized seven illegal motors attached directly to water pipelines in Endowment Colony, Ramanthapur, during inspections in the Uppal zone.
Authorities said some consumers had been drawing water illegally by fixing electric motors to taps. This practice disrupted supply to other households in the area.
Illegal extraction affecting equitable distribution of water
Officials said such unauthorised connections reduce pressure in the distribution network, affecting regular consumers. They urged residents to avoid such practices and ensure fair usage of water resources.
The HMWSSB warned that repeat offenders would face a fine of ₹5,000 and criminal cases under Water Board rules.
Residents urged to report low pressure instead of misuse
Consumers facing low pressure or supply issues have been advised to lodge complaints with officials or call the helpline 155313 instead of using illegal motors.
