Hyderabad marks Id-ul-Fitr with subdued celebrations amid global conflict, LPG concerns

HYDERABAD: Id-ul-Fitr celebrations in the city reflected a mix of tradition and restraint this year, as global conflicts and domestic concerns weighed on public sentiment.
The festival usually brings families together through food, culture, and shared customs. However, residents observed it with a quieter tone this year. People across Hyderabad offered prayers and held gatherings, but many acknowledged the subdued mood.
M.A. Faiz Khan of the Paigah family said the day remained important for gratitude and reflection. “On this blessed day, we bow our heads in gratitude to the Almighty for His countless blessings. As people observe Id in a more subdued and reflective spirit this year, our hearts are heavy with the suffering caused by conflicts around the world,” he said.
He added, “May He fill our hearts with compassion, bring comfort to those who suffer, and spread happiness, unity, and harmony across all His creation.”
Ongoing conflict in West Asia and concerns over the LPG situation influenced the restrained celebrations.
Despite the subdued mood, Hyderabad’s Id spirit of inclusiveness and community bonding remained visible across neighbourhoods.
