HYDERABAD:  HYDRAA has initiated an inquiry into alleged encroachments on public-utility spaces in Sakkubai Layout at Shaikpet village under the Jubilee Hills constituency. The layout, spread over 25 acres in Survey No. 327, was formed in the name of Sakkubai Nagar Mutually Aided Cooperative Society.

Officials began the inquiry after a complaint in HYDRAA Prajavani seeking protection of the designated park area. During field inspection, they reportedly found additional encroachments on a cemetery and the historic Bulkapur Nala.

Commissioner seeks complete document record

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of the society and Shaikpet residents. He examined the documents submitted by both sides and heard their arguments.

Shaikpet representatives Sadanandam and Ashok Kumar told the Commissioner that the land used for the layout belongs to the government. They said the area marked as a park is used for temple festivities and alleged that society members had encroached even on the cemetery land.

Society secretary Seetharamaiah explained how the society came to possess the land and urged the Commissioner to protect the park shown in the approved layout.

Fresh field-level inquiry ordered

Ranganath directed officials to conduct a deeper field-level verification with inputs from all relevant departments. He asked both groups to submit complete documentation, after which a joint meeting will be held with officials from all departments.

He said HYDRAA would ensure no future construction takes place on land earmarked for public facilities.

Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav, BRS leader Maganti Sunitha, local residents and representatives of various associations attended the meeting.
