Hydraa Recovers ₹110 Crore Government Land In Goshamahal

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday cleared encroachments on 1.30 acres of government land in Survey No. 50 of Kulsoompura village under Asifnagar mandal, Goshamahal constituency.

Officials said the land, valued at about ₹110 crore, had been under illegal occupation by Ashok Singh, who had erected sheds and rented them out to idol makers.

Collector sought action to protect land

Hyderabad district collector had directed HYDRAA to safeguard the land for public use. The government reportedly plans to utilise the reclaimed area for public welfare projects, including double-bedroom housing for the people with low-income.

Offender faced multiple criminal cases

Officials said Ashok Singh, who claimed ownership and approached the City Civil Court, lost the case, which ruled in favour of the government. Despite earlier eviction drives, Singh continued to occupy the site and allegedly assaulted officials during previous operations.

Police records show that Singh has more than eight cases registered against him at Langer Houz, Mangalhat, and Shahinayathgunj police stations, including those related to land grabbing and assault.

HYDRAA officials carried out Friday’s clearance operation under the directions of commissioner AV Ranganath. Local residents had earlier filed complaints with Prajavani seeking action against the encroachments.

The government has already built double-bedroom houses on adjacent government land and intends to expand the housing project on the newly recovered site.
