Hyderabad gears up for Holi celebrations
HYDERABAD: The city is preparing for Holi with cultural programmes, music concerts and colour-themed events at multiple venues, including Saroornagar Indoor Stadium and other locations.
Organisers have lined up ‘colour blast’ contests, open-air music concerts and themed entertainment activities. Singer Mangli and Rahul Sipligunj are among those scheduled to perform at select events.
Family-friendly programmes gain focus
At Kompally, events such as ‘Rangasthalam’, ‘Rangon Masti 2.0’ and seasonal celebrations are being promoted as safe, family-oriented gatherings. With increased awareness about chemical colours, most organisers said they would encourage the use of skin-safe colours.
Children’s activity zones and family participation programmes have been given priority at several venues.

Outdoor music concerts, chain dance set-ups and festival-themed gatherings are expected to draw large crowds across the city.
Begum Bazaar readies for festival shopping
Begum Bazaar, known for festive trade, has stocked up on colours, water guns and traditional sweets to meet demand.
Gujiya and other seasonal sweets are witnessing brisk sales ahead of the festival. Retailers said white shirts and bold graphic prints are popular choices for Holi celebrations. Sales of water guns and colour-spraying accessories have also increased.
Both traditional markets and online platforms are reporting higher festival-related purchases.
Police advise vigilance at Holi events
Police have advised the public to exercise caution while attending large gatherings. Participants should verify safety arrangements made by organisers before attending events.
Doctors have urged people to ensure that colours used are safe for skin. Those with allergies or respiratory issues have been advised to take precautions in advance.
Traffic police personnel are expected to remain on duty to regulate vehicular movement and prevent accidents during the festivities.
