Malkajgiri bans heavy vehicles in peak hours from April 1

Heavy vehicles halted during peak traffic hours in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Malkajgiri Commissionerate has imposed restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles within its limits from April 1.

Commissioner Avinash Mohanty issued orders banning the movement of vehicles such as DCM trucks, water tankers, ready-mix vehicles, lorries, JCBs, tractors and private buses during peak hours.

Restrictions during peak traffic hours across city stretches

The ban will be in force from 7.30 am to 11.30 am and again from 3.30 pm to 10.30 pm. Heavy vehicles will be allowed only during non-peak hours.

The restrictions will not apply to school buses and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses.

Ban covers multiple police station jurisdictions in Malkajgiri

The order applies to all routes under the limits of Karkhana, Begumpet, Boinpally, Gopalapuram, Maredpally, Tukaramgate, Malkajgiri, Neredmet, LB Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Nagole, Uppal, Nacharam and Kushaiguda police stations.

Passenger and goods vehicles carrying more than 10 persons have been barred from using the PNGT, CTO, YMCA and Bairamal Guda first- and second-level bridges at all times.

Ambulances, fire engines and vehicles used in emergencies have been exempted. Government vehicles operating in Bollaram and Tirumalagiri areas are also excluded from the restrictions.
