Hyderabad celebrates Golconda Bonalu 2024 grandly

Hyderabad: The much revered Sri Jagadamba Mahankali Golconda Bonalu Celebrations-2024 were commemorated on Sunday. Adequate arrangements were made to ensure peaceful celebrations for all the devotees.

Bonalu is celebrated in the month of Ashada which falls around July-August. Golconda Jagadambika Mahankali Yellamma Bonalu started at Langar House Chowrasta. Ministers on behalf of the government formally inaugurated the festival.

Hyderabad incharge Minister Ponnam Prabahak took to X(formerly twitter) and shared the greeting to all the devotees.“Bonala festival is a symbol of Telangana’s culture and traditions, and with the blessings of goddesses, the state should see good rains, crops and ensure the prosperity of the people of the state,” said Ponnam Prabhakar.

He appealed to the people of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy to cooperate with the devotees coming across the state to ensure that devotees across the state do not face any difficulties to celebrate the Bonalu celebrations of Telangana Ashadha month in a grand manner.

“On behalf of the state government, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha,Ranga Reddy district incharge minister Sridhar Babu, other ministers and officials have made all arrangements to celebrate the Bonala festival in a grand manner,” said Ponnam Prahaka.

Earlier the Telangana Government’s Revenue (Endowments) Department has issued a budget release order allocating Twenty Crores rupees for the Bonalu Festival 2024.

In an official order dated June 26, 2024, the Government has sanctioned these funds, allowing for additional allocations beyond regular treasury control orders, pending provision of supplementary grants during the financial year 2024-2025. Under the scheme named “Bonalu Festival,” the District Collector of Hyderabad is authorized to disburse these funds to eligible temples, agencies, and departments. Utilization Certificates are required to be furnished to the Endowment Department post disbursement.
